Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been facing death threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi over the Blackbuck case for some time now. While the actor was given strict security arrangements to ensure safety, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait asked Salman to visit the temple and seek forgiveness. In a new interview, Rakesh also suggested that Salman apologize to Lawrence. He called the gangster “Badmaash aadmi”. The proposal comes days after the assassination of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique.

Hindustan Times quoted Rakesh as saying, “Yes samaj se juda hua mamla hai. Salman Khan ko mandir jaa kar maafi maang leni chahiye, nahi toh, imprison me, group aadmi pata nahi kab tapakwa de (This is an issue related to society. Salman Khan should go to the temple and apologize, otherwise you never know when a person may harm him in prison).

Talking about Lawrence, Rakesh added, “Badmaash aadmi hai woh (Lawrence Bishnoi is a bad person).”

Why is Lawrence Bishnoi threatening Salman Khan?

Salman Khan was accused of poaching a village in Rajasthan in 1998. The Bishnoi community considers black goats to be sacred. Salman was starring in the film Hum Saath Saath Hain with Saif Ali Khan, Tabu and Sonali Bendre. The allegations led to Salman being embroiled in a massive legal scandal. In a case that lasted 26 years, Salman was arrested, bailed, acquitted, convicted and bailed again.

While Salman was punished, co-accused Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam Kothari were given the presumption of innocence and were acquitted.

The matter has now led to Salman receiving death threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his members. Since 2022, the actor has received threats several times. Shots were also heard near his home in Mumbai earlier this year. Salman’s friend, political leader Baba Siddique, was killed earlier this month. Members of Bishnoi’s gang claimed responsibility for his murder and again threatened Salman. Meanwhile, Salman has been given strict security measures.
