WPD warns residents about scam involving donations for young girl’s funeral

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Wichita Police Department is warning the public about an ongoing scam in the community.

WPD said it is receiving reports of people standing on street corners and street corners around town asking for money for a girl named Carla, who they say died of leukemia.

WPD said they interviewed a man who claimed Carla was his niece, but he was unable to provide any information about her or what was being done with the donations.

After an investigation, WPD said Tulsa police also dealt with a similar scam involving identical signs and a different photo.
