SAWS warns of severe thunderstorms and damaging winds in KZN

There is a 60% chance of rain across much of KZN on Sunday afternoon.

Forecaster Siphesihle Dlamini says there is also a Level 2 yellow warning for severe thunderstorms.

“This is expected across most of KZN, with the exception of the north-eastern part, which includes the Mbazwana areas as well as Phongola.”

Alert Level 2 has been issued for damaging winds in extreme parts of western KZN on Sunday.

The Met Office warns crosswinds could cause problems for high-sided vehicles.

Dlamini says the wet weather will continue until Monday.

“Tomorrow (Monday) we are still expecting showers and thunderstorms. There is a 30% to 60% chance of rain, mainly in the eastern parts and then in the northeastern parts of the province.”
