A man was shot in an area near Phoenix Sky Harbor.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Phoenix police say a man was shot and killed in an area north of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport early Sunday morning.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Rob Scherer tells Arizona’s family that the shooting happened just before 3 a.m. near 23rd and Fillmore streets, north of Van Buren.

Arriving officers found one person shot. He died on the spot.

It is unclear if detectives are still searching for the suspect, but investigators have closed the area.

No other information is disclosed. This is the second fatal shooting in the Valley in less than six hours.

Earlier in the morning, Glendale police responded to a shooting in which a man was shot and killed in front of a home. The man later died at an area hospital.
