SHO and others detained on charges of murder after death in police custody in Lucknow

“Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in terms of custodial deaths. The BJP has established such a jungle rule in the state that the police have become synonymous with brutality. Where the guardians of the law themselves take lives. From whom should society expect justice? ?, she said.

Earlier, a 24-year-old man died in police custody after being arrested during a raid on a gambling den in Lucknow. Although Aman Gautam’s family accused the police of beating him to death, the police denied the allegations.

A team of cops conducted a raid at Ambedkar Park in Vikasnagar’s Sector 8 on the night of October 11 following reports of gambling, officials said.

“Two persons, including Aman Gautam (24), have been detained and taken into custody,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Jitendra Kumar Dubey said on October 12.

“While being transported to the police station, Aman’s condition worsened and he was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival,” the officer added.

According to his family, Aman died after being beaten by police.

Meanwhile, UP Congress spokesperson Uma Shankar Pandey said, “The brutal murder of businessman Mohit Kumar in the lockup room of Chinhat police station in Lucknow is extremely serious and infuriating.”

“The family members claim that the police committed the murder under pressure from the ruling party,” he said.
