The two teenage girls were in eighth grade at Delphi Middle School. Both were avid softball players, and after their deaths the community named a new softball park after them. Family members say their favorite colors were turquoise and purple, and ribbons in those colors have been used in their memory over the years. In February 2017, a memorial service was held and lanterns were presented to both girls.

About Liberty “Libby” Herman

According to her obituaryLibby participated in softball, volleyball, soccer and swimming. She participated in orchestral and academic tournaments and enjoyed arts and crafts and recreation. After her death, her family created the Liberty German Scholarship Fund in her honor.

About Abigail “Abby” Williams

Abby obituary said she participated in softball, band and volleyball, and she and her family attended several local churches. Abby was an avid reader who loved photography, drawing, and decorating her mom’s home. She loved nature and animals, especially her cat Bongo.

Abby and Libby Memorial Park

After their death, family and community members began fundraising build a park in memory of the two girls. Abby and Libby Memorial Park open in 2021 with the first softball tournament.
