DESTIN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – The U.S. Coast Guard says its crews rescued a man suffering a medical emergency on a boat nearly 100 miles offshore Saturday evening.

USGC officials said in a statement that they received the call for help around 7 p.m. Saturday. They said the 48-year-old man reportedly suffered a medical emergency on a charter fishing boat about 75 miles off the coast of Destin.

They said an MH-60 Jayhawk medical helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans was dispatched to the scene. The crew reportedly responded to the scene, lifted the man aboard and transported him to an emergency room in Pensacola.
