Gatesville’s first Starbucks will open in 2025

GATESVILLE, Texas (KXXV) – “I’ve lived here my whole life. It’s kind of like chasing your dreams,” Nicky Foster said.

Nicky Foster started Green Rooster Coffee Company out of a trailer. It is now a permanent local coffee shop in Gatesville.

This is a place that brings neighbors together. With the announcement that a well-known coffee chain is coming to the community, some are worried it will change things.

But Foster sees it differently.

“We are not the same. Starbucks being Starbucks is obviously a brand that everyone gravitates towards. We opened Green Rooster to be different from the usual coffee style. I’m not worried about it. We kind of go our own way,” Foster said.

Caffeinated Baker, another coffee shop in the city, said: 25 news they are heartbroken by this. They added that they are confident of continued support from the community.

This support has come from neighbors of both stores via social media. Some wrote: “We already have two great seats,” while others said: “I’m voting no.”

“I was flattered – a little shocked, but very, very grateful. I wouldn’t know what to do if it weren’t for the support of my community,” Foster said.

Still, Foster welcomes the change. She said she’s excited about Starbucks coming to town because it means growth and a new chapter for the community.

“This is a good thing. We need it. Gatesville needs new things, it needs options. For us to have other businesses open in our community obviously means we’re doing something right because we’re bringing something new to our area. It helps our community,” Foster said.

Starbucks is expected to be completed by May 2025. It will be located at the corner of South Highway 36 and East Main Street.
