“Coastal Students of the Week” – excellent students with school spirit

A top student-athlete representing his classmates on the student council. Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper and student mental health advocate with a passion for STEM and robotics. An honors student and cross country runner who is “the epitome of a collegiate athlete.” A student who brings joy through her work at the Happy Bean Cafe. A student-athlete who gives it her all on the court and in the classroom. A National Honors Society student, she teaches dance and contributes to the yearbook. Senior class president and teaching assistant for math classes, “thoughtful, outgoing, and inclusive.”

Meet the students of the week at the seaside on October 28th.

Seacoast Students of the Week are nominated by local principals, teachers and counselors, and as you will see below, they reflect a wide range of achievements in their schools and communities. We are delighted to introduce you to these outstanding students, and we look forward to sharing the stories of many more of our amazing students in the coming weeks.

This week’s students represent Portsmouth High School, Dover High School, York High School, Exeter High School, Somersworth High School, Spalding High School and Oyster River High School.

All Coastal Coast State Secondary Schools have been asked to highlight the achievements of their students each week in the Coastal Students of the Week programme.

Here is the list of Coast Students of the Week for October 28th, as described by the school leaders who nominated them:

Nathan Delaney, Jr., Portsmouth High School

Nathan is a hard-working and dedicated student who makes his studies a top priority, as evidenced by his outstanding grades in rigorous courses. Nathan is also an athlete and student government leader, not only participating but also leading his fellow student government members. He is a student representative on the school board and does a lot for the PHS community as well as the local community. He is a man who gives 110% to everything he does. His boundless positive energy and tremendous work ethic are evident in every area of ​​his life and are contagious to everyone who works with him.

Hallie Brunson, Dover High School senior

Dover High School is celebrating Hallie Brunson’s graduation this week. Hallie provides leadership and service to the school and community as Secretary of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society, Key Club Liaison, and Vice President of the Women’s Empowerment Club. Hallie is passionate about robotics and works as the team’s chief machinist. She continued her passion for STEM by attending St. Paul School’s summer engineering program. She brings this passion to her work at Snapology. Actively involved in the student newspaper, The Tide, she served as design director and editor-in-chief. Hallie participated in the HOBEY leadership program. She used the skills she learned there to support school and community mental health by becoming a NAMI Certified Trainer. Hallie competed in unified volleyball and is a member of the track and field team. An excellent student, Hallie has a GPA of 3.9934 and is in the top 20% of her class.

Zoe Carroll, York Junior School

Zoe placed 2nd in the Western Maine Conference cross country meet last week. She is also an outstanding student in both honors and AP courses. She is the epitome of a student-athlete.

Dannia Ostroff, Exeter High School senior

Dannia has been a regular, proud and hardworking member of the Happy Bean Cafe project for many years. She is very reliable and always has a positive attitude towards her job and puts a smile on everyone she meets. She truly represents the happiness this project seeks to spread. We know Dannia will bring these great qualities to any job in the future!

Paige Demers, Somersworth High School sophomore

Paige is the definition of a student-athlete: she puts in her best effort both on the court and in the classroom, prioritizing work over athletics. She is a student who is confident in her abilities, but is willing to ask questions if she fails to ensure that she completes all assignments according to the teacher’s expectations. She has high expectations of herself and is a role model for her peers in the class. She is actively involved in clubs, especially those that support the school and community.

Madeline Hackett, a senior at Spaulding High School.

Maddie Hackett is a distinguished graduate of SHS, distinguished by rigorous honors and AP classes, and serving as vice president of the French Honor Society. For the past ten years she has dedicated herself to dance, not only as a sport, but also as a passion that she shares with younger students through her volunteer work at a local dance academy. Maddie’s commitment to her academics and extracurricular activities is evident in her role on the yearbook team and her membership in the National Honor Society. She also shows amazing school spirit, always cheering for Spalding and actively participating in school activities. Despite her sometimes shy demeanor, she sets an example of determination and kindness. Maddie works part-time and loves to travel, reflecting her adventurous spirit. Her big heart and passion for helping others make her truly deserving of this recognition.

Amelia Rurie, senior at Oyster River High School

Amelia is a highly motivated student who makes quality contributions to class discussions. Her kind attitude makes her a stellar addition to the class and the school as a whole. She is a resource to her peers and is generous with her time and energy. Amelia is highly motivated to succeed, hardworking and a natural leader. She has served as a homeroom teacher for four years and is the senior class president. Her class teacher says: “She is genuinely keen to contribute in any way she can to help support her class and raise money. She is the first person to volunteer for any fundraiser or event. She even has a group of people come to the race track on a Saturday in June after school gets out for the summer. She will make all the flyers, use her free time to help organize everything needed, and handle all the social media for the class page. leader and always ready to take a step forward. As a person, she is thoughtful, outgoing, inclusive, and considerate of those around her. She is truly a pleasure to work with!”

Amelia worked as a teaching assistant in various math classes where she worked hard to help students learn. She is ready to help anyone and does it with kindness. Students feel comfortable asking her questions and she does a great job of explaining complex topics. She pays close attention to detail and puts her best effort into everything she does. Amelia is a leader who raises the bar for her classmates. Amelia has been on the staff of the school magazine, River Mouth, for three years. She is now the editor-in-chief. She is passionately involved in the school community and is an integral part of MOR’s success. Amelia is a very resilient and driven young woman who sets high goals for herself and has the skills and discipline to achieve them. She is a pleasure to talk to and her honesty is unquestionable. We look forward to Amelia’s accomplishments this year.
