Police are urging members of the public to keep an eye on their children during this busy festive period.

This was highlighted by ACP Operations Director Levi Driu, who said parents should monitor what their children are doing at this time of year.

Driou says they will increase their visibility and create an atmosphere where everyone can celebrate and enjoy the holiday.

He adds that the public also needs to be vigilant and take responsibility for their surroundings.

“The public also needs to be responsible. Before leaving their homes, as we know, Fijian communities always visit relatives. If you leave your house it will be empty, please inform the nearest police station or inform any police officer that your house will be empty.”

Driou says they have warned all police officers in various departments to be alert and respond promptly to concerns raised by members of the public.

He emphasized to all their officers that they must be able to provide timely assistance to the public.
