Three senior freight industry executives have launched a charity to help victims of child sex trafficking rebuild their lives.

Sharon Seear, vice president and chief financial officer of Talon Freight Services, Nicole Glenn, founder and CEO of Candor Logistics Management, and Christy Knichel, president and owner of Knichel Logistics, were “horrified by the number of child sex trafficking victims who struggling to recover without the help of others.” access to the mental health counseling they need to overcome the trauma of human trafficking.”

In response, they formed Gift of Freedom in Texas. The state has the second-highest number of reported cases of human trafficking in the United States, with about 313,000 people being trafficked in Texas at any given time, according to researchers, of whom 79,000 are children.

The women leaders explained that after the rescue, the children needed help to cope with the trauma. Gift of Freedom partners with organizations and counselors who can provide specialized care and rehabilitation, allowing children to rebuild their lives.

Ms Seear said: “Numerous organizations rescue trafficked children from kidnappers and rapists. However, after the rescue, there are not enough resources and mental health professionals to provide counseling services. As a result, many victims return to the streets because that’s all they know.”

In addition to providing expert assistance and funding, Gift of Freedom partners with law enforcement and government agencies, lawyers, social workers and children’s rights groups.
