According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 23 states and Washington, D.C. allow same day registration. Is Florida one of them?

The 2024 general election will take place on Tuesday 5 November.

How do I register to vote in Florida?

For online registration follow the link Register to voteFlorida.gov. To send online applicationyou will need:

  • The most current and valid Florida Driver’s License (Florida DL) or Florida ID Card.
  • The last four digits of your Social Security number.

You will need to enter your name, date of birth, Florida DL or Florida ID number, and issue date exactly as they appear on your most recent and valid Florida DL card or Florida ID.

If you do not have the required information, you can still use the online system to complete the online voter registration application form. You can then print, sign and mail the form or take it to your county elections director’s office.

Other ways to register to vote in Florida

You can also Apply to register to vote at:

  • Any director of the election commission (by mail or in person)
  • Any office that issues Florida ID cards or Florida identification cards.
  • Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles online system for renewing your Florida driver’s license or Florida identification card.
  • Any voter registration agency, such as a public assistance office.
  • Any public library

Early voting has already begun! There are only two important dates to remember this election season:

  • Saturday, November 2: Early voting ends statewide; however, some counties offer an additional day on November 3rd.
  • Tuesday, November 5: Election day. Polling stations will be open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm regardless of the time zone in which you live. Any voters remaining in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote, no matter how long it takes.
