Grand Theft Auto 6 may be on Rockstar’s radar right now, but after years of anticipation Red Dead Redemption Finally got around to PC – and things are going very well. 14 years after its original release, the groundbreaking open-world Western and chronological sequel Red Dead Redemption 2 has arrived on Steam along with the equally excellent but comparatively underrated spin-off Undead Nightmare. In just two hours (at the time of writing), the PC version of Red Dead Redemption has already attracted thousands of players and received almost flawless reviews. Whether you’re a wily old veteran or have never encountered John Marston’s odyssey before, RDR1 looks to be worth your time.

GTA 6 release date can’t come fast enough – while Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 still offer plenty of thrills, we’re very ready for a new Rockstar open world game opus. However, given that it has never been on PC before, the original Red Dead Redemption feels new. After the failure of GTA Definitive Edition in 2022, you may have been hesitant to try another reboot of a Rockstar classic. However, based on preliminary data, there is nothing to worry about.

As of this writing, it’s been roughly two hours since Red Dead Redemption first appeared on Steam, and the concurrent user base already stands at 8,063. For perspective, this means that RDR1, a game originally released back in 2010, now has more players on Steam than Hades 2, God of War Ragnarok, Battlefield 1, Dying Light 2, and Starfield. He also gets some flashy early notifications. Of the 270 user reviews posted on Red Dead Redemption’s Steam page, 92% are positive.
