The Kings boast the best offense in the NBA after a 1-2 start to the season.

Despite the start of the season with a score of 1:2, the team Sacramento Kings appear to have discovered the elite offense that led them to a three-seed finish two seasons ago. Between DeMar DeRozan consistently scoring 20+ points per game, Domantas Sabonis shooting hot 3-pointers, and a free throw shooting team, the Kings rank in the top five in several offensive categories in the NBA.

Most surprising, and perhaps most important, is the team’s free throw percentage. Through three games, the Kings are shooting 85.9% from the foul line, which is the best in the league. This is especially impressive considering the Kings were last in the team in free throw percentage last season, making 74.5 percent. It could be argued that the Kings lost several games last season due to poor free throw shooting, so this is a welcome development.

The Beam ranks fifth in points per game with 117.7, up from a respectable ninth place last season with 116.6 points per game. Three games is a small sample, but the Kings played Minnesota Timberwolvesarguably the best defensive team in the NBA over the past two seasons, and Los Angeles Lakerswho started the season looking like one of the best teams in the league.

The Kings also finished fifth in field goal percentage (47.8%) after finishing 14th last season. Individually, Domantas Sabonis stands out. NBA head coach Mike Brown challenged NBA centers to make more three-pointers this season, and he accomplished it. Sabonis is shooting an absurd 55.6% on 3.0 three-point attempts per game. That’s up from 37.9% on 1.1 attempts per game last season.

One little-known statistic that tells the story is that the Kings block fewer times than any other team, just three times per game. This means Sacramento’s offense generates a lot of open shots without players forcing bad shots at the rim. This bodes well for the Kings maintaining a potent offense for the foreseeable future.

The Kings return to action tonight against Utah Jazzwho are giving up 121.0 points per game, so expect Sacramento to continue its hot offensive start to the season.
