Kitten rescued, five injured in Cincinnati house fire

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A kitten was rescued and resuscitated, but an early morning house fire in Cincinnati injured five residents, according to fire officials.

Damage was estimated at $150,000 at a home in the 3600 block of Dawson Avenue in South Cumminsville.

A fire in the basement damaged the basement and then spread smoke to the other two floors.

All occupants were safely out of the home when fire crews arrived around 12:45 p.m.

The American Red Cross was called to help the family of four adults and one child.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
