“The View” star, ex-Trump staffer says Joe Biden ‘needs to stay off all media’ until election day after ‘garbage’ comment

Griffin said Biden’s recent comments are harmful to Kamala Harris’ campaign and that Harris should ‘unequivocally distance itself’ from him.

Alyssa Farah Griffin —former Donald Trump White House staffer, The View cohost, and alternative sperm-as-face cream visionary — has a strong piece of advice for President Joe Biden ahead of the 2024 election: Keep quiet until Americans head to the polls.

The 35-year-old reacted on social media (before also addressing the topic on Wednesday’s live View show) to Biden’s controversial comments about Trump supporters, which Reuters reported from a Tuesday fundraising call: “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters’s — his — his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and it’s un-American,” Biden said, per the outlet, in response to the comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s racist joke about Puerto Rico at a Trump rally at New York City’s Madison Square Garden arena.

“Biden needs to stay off all media until Election Day. His ‘garbage’ comments are political gold for the Right & remind voters of being called ‘deplorables,'” Griffin — who worked for Trump’s communications team before resigning and speaking out against him in 2020 — shared Wednesday morning, additionally suggesting Vice President Kamala Harris to step back from associations with Biden’s remarks as she prepares to square off against Trump on Nov. 5.

“The comment is the opposite of what Kamala Harris is running on — uniting Americans. The campaign (should) unequivocally distance itself. Not the time to worry (about) anyone’s feelings,” Griffin continued. “And let’s be clear: Trump has said worse things about democrats pretty much every day for a decade. The difference is it’s baked in with him. The Biden comments (could) hit a skeptical undecided voter & make them think: this unifying message is fake, they don’t (really) want me in the fold.”

She finished: “There’s a direct line from good men in politics like McCain & Mitt Romney being unfairly demonized by the left (remember binders full of women?) — to Trump. A lot of R’s decided if the Left was going to tear down good men who play fair, why not put up a bully to hit back.”

Amid backlash to the report, Biden issued a statement about his words on Xattempting to clarify his stance in the crucial days before voting.

“Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage — which is the only word I can think of to describe it,” the 82-year-old said. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That’s all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don’t reflect who we are as a nation.”

On Wednesday, The View also played a clip of Harris addressing Biden’s comments in the aftermath.

“First of all, he clarified his comments, but let me be clear: I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for,” Harris said in the footage. “I believe that the work that I do is about representing all the people, whether they support me or not.”

On the broadcast, Whoopi Goldberg hit out at Republicans attempting to weaponize Biden’s comments against him and the Harris campaign, while Griffin elaborated on her feelings. “When they hear the President of the United States, who was Kamala Harris’ running mate, calling them garbage, they’re like, ‘See, they’re not with us,'” Griffin estimated. “I understand his walk-back, but it’s going to be blasted to tens of millions of people who believe that.”

Goldberg later pointed out that comments from Trump and his supporters have disparaged a wide range of people over the years — including Harris herself.

“When you say I’m undecided and I don’t know if I trust them and now they’re saying this about us…. but how do people think I feel when I listen to some clown talk about, you know, Kamala’s pimps?” Goldberg asked, referring to recent rhetoric that liked Harris to being controlled by men, while Sunny Hostin pointed out that Trump recently liked America to a garbage receptacle over immigration at a recent campaign event.

Both Harris and Biden have made recent appearances on The Viewas the talk show has long been an important pit stop for political candidates before a presidential election.

Harris’ appearance led to attack ads from the right, after she told Sunny Hostin that she couldn’t immediately think of anything she’d do differently under her administration versus Biden’s.

Biden also sat for a recent interview on the show, which saw moderator Goldberg tell him to his face that she didn’t like how Democrats publicly lobbied for him to bow out of the election race over concerns about his age.

In other View news, producer Brian Teta recently revealed on the Behind the Table podcast that the cohosts will not participate in the program’s annual, fan-favorite Halloween costume pageantry, as the talk show’s holiday installation typically requires a lot of time and preparation for its elaborate pre-taped segments, and the panelists want to spend more time speaking about the Nov. 5 presidential election.

The View airs weekdays at 11 am ET/10 am PT on ABC.
