If you regularly feel bloated or experience pain from bloating, be sure to consult your doctor. That said, here’s how to deal with occasional bloating.

NHS surgeon Dr Karan Rajan continues to share health tips on Instagram. He recently wrote about Sophie Richards, a British woman diagnosed with endometriosis. She documents her health journey on her Instagram page, The Endo Spectrum.

Based on one of her videos on bloating, Dr. Rajan shared how to get rid of bloating quickly. He said that while it’s best to figure out what’s causing bloating first, some “natural ingredients” can help reduce symptoms of bloating.

A bloated belly can be uncomfortable, irritating and sometimes even painful. Luckily, there are several ways to deal with this naturally.

In the above video, Sophie spoke about day 40 of “the most extreme anti-inflammatory diet she’s ever tried for endometriosis”: “For the last 39 days I had no symptoms of bloating or endometriosis until day 40.” Highlighting her video, Dr. Rajan said, “If you are suffering from bloating, try these four natural ingredients.”

Peppermint oil relieves symptoms of gas and bloating.

Then he listed them all: “First, peppermint oil. It contains menthol, which has antispasmodic properties; it relaxes the smooth muscles of the intestines, relieving symptoms of gas, bloating and abdominal cramps. It is especially effective in people with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) or those who suffer from IBS-like symptoms.”

Ginger is especially effective for bloating

His second choice? Ginger. He said: “Ginger speeds up gastric emptying symptoms and stimulates digestive enzymes. It reduces bloating by removing food from the stomach for too long. It is particularly effective for dysfunction associated with bloating, dyspepsia or indigestion.”

Psyllium husk powders are more effective.

Next comes psyllium husk (Isabgol). “I like it. Psyllium is a soluble fiber that absorbs water in the intestines. It forms a gel that promotes regular flow and reduces bloating. Very effective for people with constipation-type irritable bowel syndrome. You can get it in tablets and powder, but Personally, I find powders are more effective,” he said.

Probiotics reduce bloating by balancing intestinal flora.

Dr. Rajan added: “Finally, there is strong evidence that certain strains of probiotics, such as bifidobacterium infantis and others, can reduce bloating by modulating and balancing gut flora, mainly reducing gas production at the source and reducing the amount of bacterial gases. These strains can be found in yogurt. and kefir containing live cultures.” He concluded: “They will not cure the underlying condition causing bloating, but they may help reduce symptoms.”

If you regularly experience bloating and/or pain from bloating, be sure to consult your doctor.
