Ferguson ‘banned’, Cantona slams ‘scandalous’ Ratcliffe amid revelation of ‘controversial policy change’

Club legend Eric Cantona has criticized Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the rest of the Manchester United board after Sir Alex Ferguson was stripped of his ambassador role.

Head of INEOS Ratcliffe finalized its acquisition of Man Utd at the beginning of this year. He bought a 27.7% minority stake in the Premier League giants.

As part of the deal, the British billionaire took control of football affairs at Old Trafford and has had a busy few months as he made significant changes.

Ratcliffe has overhauled Man Utd’s recruitment model and brought in Ruud van Nistelrooy as assistant head coach to Erik ten Hag.

The 71-year-old also implemented a “cost reduction program”. There have been massive layoffs at Old Trafford, and The Athletic revealed that Ferguson had been stripped of his role as the club’s global ambassador.

Ferguson had held the role since his retirement in 2013, when the Glazer family made “a multi-million pound annual commitment” to the legendary manager.

The report says.

“INEOS has exhausted all means of cutting costs, leading it to focus on the club’s commitment to the 82-year-old Ferguson, who still regularly attends matches in the directors’ box, both at home than outside.

“But now, in a face-to-face meeting at Old Trafford, INEOS founder and CEO Sir Jim Ratcliffe told Ferguson the club was looking to cut costs and was no longer prepared to maintain your payments.

” United sources – who, like everyone featured in this article, spoke anonymously due to the sensitivity of the subject – said the matter had been settled amicably and he would remain as director not executive of the club and would be welcome to attend the matches’.

In response to the news, Cantona lashed out at United’s board. He wrote on Instagram: “Sir Alex Ferguson should be able to do whatever he wants at the club until the day he dies. Such disrespect.

“It’s totally scandalous. Sir Alex Ferguson will be my boss forever! And I throw them all in a big bag of shit! »

A new report from The daily mail claims Ferguson was ‘ordered to stay away from the Man Utd dressing room’ as part of a ‘policy change’.

Although United “deny directly banning Ferguson”, it certainly appears as such.

“Sir Alex Ferguson and the Manchester United board have been asked not to enter the Old Trafford dressing room, breaking a tradition dating back to the days of Sir Matt Busby.

“Earlier on Tuesday, it emerged that Ferguson had seen his multi-million pound ambassador role axed by the club’s new co-owner INEOS as part of a sweeping cost-cutting programme.

“And Mail Sport can reveal that in another controversial move, Ferguson – the most successful manager in the club’s history – will no longer enter the inner sanctum after matches in a policy change.

“United denies directly barring Ferguson from the dressing room, but says there is now a ‘collective understanding’ over who goes inside.”
