MIAMI – The U.S. Coast Guard is assisting in the search for a woman who fell overboard from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship off the coast of the Bahamas.

The U.S. Coast Guard said the Royal Bahamas Defense Force was leading the search for the 66-year-old woman who fell from the Allure of the Seas about 17 miles north of Nassau Tuesday evening around 9:40 a.m.

The Coast Guard sent an HC-144 aircraft crew and a Dolphin MH-65 helicopter crew from Miami Air Force Base to assist in the search.
