Passenger Name Record Information (First Amendment) Regulations, 2024

The Ministry of Finance, through the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), issued Notification No. 68/2024 – Customs (NT) on October 22, 2024, amending the Records Information Regulations Passengers, 2022. This amendment is made under the powers conferred by section 157 of the Customs Act 1962. The key change involves the replacement of the wording of Regulation 5, sub-regulation (4), where the expression “time departure; or” has been updated to “departure time and”. The amendment aims to clarify the reporting of passenger departure details. These revised regulations, titled Passenger Name Record Information (First Amendment) Regulations, 2024, come into force immediately after their publication in the Official Gazette. The original Passenger Name Record Information Regulations, 2022 were published by the Ministry of Finance on August 8, 2022. This update is expected to streamline the information collection process in customs, thereby helping to improve the accuracy of data.
