Ethio-telecom is working to expand its mobile network to all rural areas of the country – ENA English

Addis Ababa, August 11, 2024 (ENA) Ethio-telecom has revealed that it is working to expand its mobile phone network to all rural areas of Ethiopia, using renewable energy as an alternative mechanism.

Ethio-telecom today inaugurated mobile network construction projects in rural Somalia and central Ethiopia.

Deputy Director of Network Infrastructure, Alem Haile-Mariam, said the Rural Mobile Network Solution Service will enable all citizens in remote, rural areas of the country where road infrastructure is poor and terrain is difficult to easily connect to mobile networks.

In addition, the project will install solar-powered mobile networks in places where there is no access to electricity, he added.

According to the Deputy Director General, the Rural Mobile Network Solution Service has so far reached over 900,000 people in 305 rural Kebeles across the country.

He confirmed that the project will be implemented in all rural regions of Ethiopia, using renewable energy as an alternative mechanism.
