Magicpin Co-Founder Brij Bhushan Joins Prime Venture Partners as Full-Time Partner

Hyperlocal e-commerce company magicpin Co-founder and former COO Brij Bhushan has joined Prime Venture Partners as a full-time partner, the early-stage venture capital firm said on Friday. In the role, Bhushan will be a key member of the investment team and will contribute to all aspects of the firm’s investments, portfolio management and fundraising, Prime’s vice president said in a statement.

“Brij Bhushan brings a unique combination of strategic thinking, execution excellence and a long-term mindset to building a company. We believe he is an ideal addition to our leadership team,” said Amit Somani, Prime Venture Partners (Prime VP), Managing Partner. Bhushan co-founded magicpin, where he played a key role in growing magicpin, raising over $100 million from investors including Lightspeed, Zomato and Waterbridge.

An IIM Bangalore graduate, Bhushan previously worked in venture capital as a vice president at Nexus Venture Partners before co-founding Magicpin. He also worked at Bain & Co. “Joining Prime Venture Partners is like a full circle. As a VC turned founder, I realized that early-stage startups need more than just investment. They need a real team player.

After almost a decade as a founder, I am excited to return to VC where I can help founders on their journeys,” said Bhushan. Prime VP has also promoted its VP of Investments, Gaurav Ranjan, to the position of Chief Investment Officer. Ranjan, an IIM Calcutta graduate, has been with Prime VP for the past six years.

The statement said it has acquired and co-evaluated over 2,000 startups and worked closely with over a dozen early-stage Prime startups, including Gallabox, OTO, Capital, Poshn and HitWicket, across sectors such as FinTech, SaaS and gaming.
