Red Flag Fire Warning Issued for Northwest Michigan Through Friday Evening

MICHIGAN — Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm and Gratiot are under a red flag burn warning Friday.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids issued a warning due to dry conditions.

It expires at 8 p.m. Friday evening.

According to the local National Weather Service: “A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are currently occurring or will soon occur. The combination of strong winds…low relative humidity…and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. . Use caution with all activities that could potentially lead to a wildfire.
