Arun Maini, a famous YouTuber known for his channel Mrwhosetheboss, posted a scathing video titled “Why Google Search is Crashing.” The video goes over three reasons why Google search fails: (1) the results page, (2) SEO, and (3) AI is changing.

The video has already been viewed more than a million times, on a channel with nearly 20 million subscribers. Here is the video:

I mean, look at it, it’s worth it. I’m not a fan of him blaming SEOs, but some (not all) SEOs are partly to blame. But Google can handle the specific examples it highlighted in terms of SEO manipulation. One example he gave was from 2010, yes, 14 years ago, of a business owner intentionally receiving bad reviews to improve their ranking. It worked, until Google took action a few months later.

My favorite part is the call to AJ Kohn, who has been in the industry for a long time and also started the @Goog_Enough X channel.

That being said, Google has many problems. I don’t think anyone can deny that. Google, once loved by everyone, now has a mostly negative view from the general public. The DOJ case didn’t help with daily use of Google, and the examples Arun Maini gave about searching for e-commerce products, well, he’s not wrong.

It’s simply amazing how quickly Google’s search brand has deteriorated, but the big questions are: (1) is it too late for Google to change the game, (2) does Google want to really do it, and (3) will it make a return on investment? difference for Google results?
