YouTuber Haix said Asmongold’s comments should fall under Twitch’s rules against “violent hate speech”, tagging Twitch and Twitch support.

Asmongold apologizes

Late on October 14, Asmongold posted a response to the backlash on X/Twitter.

“Come to think of it, I was way too much of an asshole about Palestine,” he began. “My fault.”

He added: “Of course, no one deserves to have their life destroyed, even if they do things or have opinions that I find regressive.

“You deserve more than me saying stupid things like that, I’ll do better.”

The reception to his statement, however, remained critical, with some accusing it of being a public relations move and not a genuine apology.

Others asked him to say “I’m sorry” directly rather than just “My bad.”

Twitch streamer Hasan also spoke directly with Asmongold during a broadcast, to challenge his views.

He advised Asmon to learn more about the subject before broaching it, including speaking to real people with knowledge and experience of the conflict.

As of this writing, Twitch has not taken any action against Asmongold’s account. OTK, the organization that Asmongold co-owns, has not publicly addressed the controversy.
