Search ends in tragedy: 7-year-old boy found dead in body of water near his Orlando home

The sheriff’s office called off its search after finding the body of a missing 7-year-old boy Monday.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) said Emerson Felix was last seen in the area of ​​Flintshire Street, near Rio Grand Avenue and 40th Street.

While the Sheriff’s Office was conducting searches, the public was asked to keep an eye out for a boy wearing a light-colored cream shirt with a black logo on the chest and light blue shorts with a dark stripe down the side.

Hours after Felix was reported missing, the sheriff’s office provided a devastating update Tuesday morning. The child’s body was found in a body of water near his home, according to the sheriff’s office.

“We mourn the loss of Emerson and extend our deepest condolences and prayers to his family, classmates and all who love him,” the sheriff’s office said in the release.
