8 guns, drugs seized in search of Birmingham home; 4 accused

Four people have been charged after a search of a Birmingham home revealed the presence of drugs and guns.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests Tuesday and identified the suspects as Curtis Deangelo Pelt, 33, Caroline Elizabeth Medley, 46, Savannah Tyler Dagenais, 32, and Giovanni Austin, 43.

Sheriff’s drug investigators and the U.S. Marshals Service responded to a residence in the 200 block of North 67th Place on Oct. 11 to execute an arrest warrant. Once there, spokesman Henry Irby said, they established probable cause for a search warrant at the home.

“Detectives located numerous items related to the illegal sale of narcotics and drug trafficking,” Irby said.

Law enforcement officers confiscated eight firearms, 48 ​​grams of crack cocaine and an undisclosed amount of marijuana, tramadol and methamphetamine.

Pelt is charged with drug trafficking and was released from the Jefferson County Jail after posting $100,000 bond.

Medley is charged with second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of failure to appear. She remains jailed without bail.

Dagenais is accused of drug trafficking. Jail records show his bond is $100,000.

The suspect was charged with drug trafficking, without bail. The suspect is being held at the Jefferson County Jail.

Austin is charged with misdemeanor failure to appear. He remains held without bail.
