Search underway in Lewis County for missing man and dog

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Cody M. Johnson, 39, who was reported missing on the afternoon of Sunday, October 13.

Johnson was last seen at a residence off Number Four Road in the Town of Watson around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Authorities said he made a phone call to 11:30 a.m. Saturday October 12, 2024. which is the last known contact with him.

Johnson’s dog is also missing, a white pit bull with a black and white harness.

Johnson is a white man, 6’2″, 195 pounds, with short brown hair, last seen wearing blue jeans and a black sweatshirt with red lettering and black boots. He may be on foot and wandered through the area, which is heavily wooded. New York State Forest Rangers are assisting in the search.

WWNY in Watertown reported that a team of 40 people was searching for a missing man in a heavily wooded area in the Watson area.

“Right now, we don’t have much we can do,” said Sgt. Cory Paczkowski, Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
