New York Trucking Industry Calls for Expanding Zero Emissions Goal

ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – Trucking interests in New York say the state’s zero-emissions reduction goals are too ambitious.

The Trucking Association of New York will meet Thursday to highlight its concerns about the Advanced Clean Truck Rule.

Regulations adopted in 2021 would require a percentage of trucks sold in the state to be zero-emission by next year, according to the association.

They claim that the goal is unattainable and ask that the deadline be extended. They also add that the state lacks the infrastructure to support change.

This comes after members of the New York State Senate Republican Conference sent a letter to Gov. Kathy Hochul last week expressing concerns about the implementation of the regulations.
