ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. — Change is coming for teachers in Anne Arundel County.

The Board of Education approved an agreement that provides pay increases, establishes a career ladder and creates a salary scale for college athletic coaches.

It also includes a change to employee health plans.

“I am very pleased that we have reached this point and are able to offer raises to our incredible teachers and counselors,” said Board of Education President Robert Silkworth. “They are on the front lines of what we do every day as a school system and have a huge impact on our students. I thank each of them.

The agreement also creates a pay scale for middle school athletics coaches as Anne Arundel County Public Schools prepares to launch the program this spring.

The career ladder will have four levels, each representing a progression of skills in responsibilities.

Compensation will increase as the employee moves up the ladder.
