Temporary boil order issued for part of Elkhart due to water main break

ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) – The City of Elkhart Department of Public Works and Utilities has issued a temporary boil water advisory for some residents due to a broken water main. main water.

The city says the water main break has been repaired and water service has been restored to all affected customers, but the boil water advisory remains in effect.

Officials say if all goes well, the advisory will be lifted Saturday afternoon.

The affected areas are listed below. You can also check out the map at the bottom of this story.

  • S. 2nd Street, from W. Lexington Avenue to W. Marion Street
  • S. 3rd Street, from W. Lexington Avenue to W. Franklin Street
  • S. 4th Street, from W. Lexington Avenue to W. Franklin Street
  • W. High Street, from S. 5th Street to S. 2nd Street
  • W. Franklin Street, from S. 4th Street to S. 2nd Street

While the boil water advisory is in effect, all water in the municipal water system must be boiled for three minutes before use.

To contact the Elkhart County Health Department regarding this boil advisory, call 574-971-4600. Restaurants located in the boil advisory zone should call the health department for clear instructions on when they can operate.
