Luke Williams says Swansea City could offer contracts to free agents Cyrus Christie and Adam Reach.

Defender Christie, 32, and utility player Reach, 31, spent a second week training with Swansea after initially joining Williams’ squad at the start of the international break.

Head coach Williams is monitoring the free agent market as he continues to attempt to strengthen his team.

Asked what the chances were of Christie or Reach being offered a deal at Swansea, Williams replied: “Some. I think I probably can’t tell you things right now because we haven’t had any discussions beforehand. As we do so, I will report back to you.

Christie, a former player on loan from Swansea who was released by Hull City at the end of last season, would provide cover for Williams’ defence.

Reach, who has been without a club since his contract at West Bromwich Albion expired in the summer, is happier playing as an attacking midfielder or out wide.

“We have identified two very good quality players who are currently out of contract,” added Williams.

“We had a chance to take a look at these guys and they took a look at us as well.

“They are two brilliant players, top players, and also two very good characters. We don’t bring the wrong people into the group.

Christie and Reach would be allowed to sign for Swansea outside the transfer window as they are not attached.

Swansea are 11th in the Championship ahead of Saturday’s trip to Blackburn Rovers.

The Welsh club only recruited eight players – including two goalkeepers – during the summer transfer window.

This is despite 13 senior members of the squad – as well as four youngsters on the fringes of the first team – leaving during the tight season.
