Budget 2025 increases cost of living assistance for non-pensioned veterans to RM500

KUALA LUMPUR: Cost of living assistance for non-pensioned Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans has been increased from RM300 to RM500 under Budget 2025.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister, announced this while tabling Budget 2025, adding that the government had agreed to extend the special appreciation payment for retirees and derivative pension beneficiaries from January to December 2025.

“The tragic attack on Ulu Tiram Police Station, which claimed the lives of two police officers, the late Lance Corporal Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar and the late Lance Corporal Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, and injured Sergeant Mohd Hasif Roslan at cause of gunshots, remains relevant in our country memory.

“In order to strengthen the social protection of all civil servants, the free program in the event of professional disaster will be extended and simplified,” he said.

He added that for security and law enforcement personnel who suffered permanent disability during operations, benefits of up to RM50,000 will be paid from 2024. – Bernama
