Manjrekar warns New Zealand against India’s comeback, gives final example from T20 World Cup

Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has issued a strong warning to New Zealand about India’s comeback in the Bengaluru Test after responding with a fine effort in the second innings of the Bengaluru Test. After being bundled out for 46 in the first innings and seeing the Blackcaps score 402, the hosts had a tall task ahead of them.

India would end the day on 231 for 3 and trail New Zealand by 125 runs with the partnership of Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan giving some hope of pulling off a miracle. On X, Manjrekar said New Zealand should be slightly worried about the fight shown by India and asserted that the team had the knack of making a comeback. The former cricketer spoke about the India vs South Africa final of the T20 World Cup, where Rohit Sharma and his men pulled a rabbit out of the hat.

“If I were New Zealand, I would be slightly worried about India’s strong response. This Indian team has a knack for coming back. It was only recently that South Africa needed 30 balls off 30 in the WT20 final, do you remember this comeback?” Manjrekar said.

In the T20 World Cup final, South Africa needed 30 off 30 balls before Indian bowlers took the game away from the team and won the T20 World Cup.

Bengaluru Test, Day 3 Highlights

How was the third day of the Bengaluru Test?

India’s fortunes changed dramatically on Friday during the Bengaluru Test. After being the target of a relentless onslaught from Rachin Ravindra and Tim Southee, which helped New Zealand surpass 400, India responded with a determined fightback. In much more favorable batting conditions, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan took charge of India’s second innings, raising hopes of an unlikely comeback in the Garden City.

Although India faced a daunting deficit of 356 runs after the first innings, they managed to reduce it to 125 runs at the end of the third day, keeping hopes of a turnaround alive.
