Met Eireann weekend weather forecast with Storm Ashley expected to hit Ireland

Ireland is set to experience a stormy day on Sunday as Met Eireann has already issued weather warnings for Storm Ashley.

Saturday should start dry and bright with sunny spells before Storm Ashley brings a big change to the weather.

According to Met Eireann, much of Saturday will be dry and bright with sunny spells and only a few passing showers. However, clouds will develop from the south throughout the afternoon and rain will develop in the southwest during the evening. Maximum temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in moderate southwest winds. There is a continuing risk of coastal flooding from very high tides.

Heavy rain will spread across the country on Saturday evening and strong south-easterly winds will develop along with gales on the coast. Lowest temperatures 9 to 12 degrees.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, it will be very windy on Sunday. The rain will quickly dissipate towards the northeast on Sunday morning to give way to a day of sunny periods and heavy showers. More persistent rain will return to parts of the west and north during the afternoon with a few thunderstorms possible. Strong to gale force southwesterly winds could cause some disruption, particularly in Atlantic coastal areas. There will be an ongoing risk of coastal flooding due to the combination of high seas and spring tides. Maximum temperatures 12 to 15 degrees. The wind continues to be very windy on Sunday evening with sunny spells and scattered, breezy showers. Lowest temperatures 7 to 10 degrees.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, winds will ease on Monday to leave a mainly dry day with sunny spells and only a few showers in the Atlantic coastal counties. Maximum temperatures 12 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds. Mostly dry early Monday evening, but rain showers are expected to spread from the west overnight. Minimum temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate southwest wind.

Met Eireann has issued a series of weather warnings for Storm Ashley which is expected to hit the affected country on Sunday.

As of Friday afternoon there is a Status Orange wind warning for Galway and Mayo, with the rest of Ireland covered by a Status Yellow warning.
