Man who drank alcohol and urinated in public banned from Walsall town center

David Coffey, of Birmingham Road, Walsall, pleaded guilty to five separate offenses at Dudley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, all of which breached the town center public spaces protection order.

The offenses included drinking alcohol in a prohibited area, urinating in public and remaining in a specified area without reasonable excuse to cause harassment, alarm and distress.

Coffey was fined £120 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £48.

A criminal behavior order banning Coffey from entering Walsall town center was issued by the court “until further notice”.

Councilor Garry Perry, leader of Walsall Council, said: “Once again the council has proven that we will crack down on anti-social behavior – it has absolutely no place in our borough.

“People need to understand the personal responsibility they have as citizens, and if they don’t understand it, we will enforce it to protect our residents and communities who want to live in a clean and safe environment.”

“Our community protection teams target hotspots across the borough where anti-social behavior is particularly prevalent, and following the latest results it shows our plan is working.

“Well done to these teams for bringing these cases to court and showing that Walsall will not accept this behavior.”
