Telangana CM urges Group I students to end protests, take exams

HYDERABAD: In a strong appeal to Group I candidates, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged them to stop the ongoing protests and attend the TGPSC Group 1 Main exams which begin on Monday. Addressing the issue at the concluding ceremony of the police meeting at the Telangana Police Academy on Saturday, he claimed that some political parties, which had not issued job advertisements during their tenure, were now instigating unemployed youth to protest for political gains.

Revanth Reddy asked the police not to take criminal action against the protesting candidates, saying such actions would jeopardize their future job prospects. He stressed that the police should exercise restraint and avoid using force, including lathi charges, against the students.

Revanth Redd strongly reassured that GO 29 – a government order under scrutiny – would not have an adverse effect on candidates from the Backward Classes (BC), Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories, and accused opposition parties to spread misinformation to provoke students against the Congress-led government.
The Chief Minister highlighted the State government’s commitment to filling vacancies and providing employment opportunities to the youth of Telangana. He clarified that GO 29 was issued in pursuance of the Group I notification in February this year to ensure that candidates from BC, SC and ST communities receive their rightful share of employment opportunities.

“When we issued GO 29 with the Group 1 notification, there was no protest from the students. If they had any objections at that time, we would have considered them. Based on this , we have conducted the preliminary examination of Group 1. If we change GO in the middle of the exams now, it would lead to legal problems and ultimately the recruitment of Group 1 would be at a standstill. This would negatively affect all candidates. This is why we are also moving forward with the same GO exam for Mains. ” said.

Revanth Reddy further said, “We have issued the notification to fill 563 Group I posts and have called 31,000 candidates to appear for the main exam in the ratio of 1:50. This will greatly benefit BC, SC and ST candidates,” he said. He also referred to the actions of the previous BRS government, which introduced GO 55, allegedly jeopardizing the chances of candidates from reserved categories to get jobs.

He urged students to concentrate on their exams and avoid falling prey to political agendas. He reassured the youth that the Congress government remains committed to providing employment opportunities, with plans for additional employment notifications in the near future.
“End the protests and definitely attend exams on Monday. The future belongs to those who seize the opportunities presented to them,” the chief minister said.

He also reviewed the law and order situation in the city following the violent protests against the Group 1 main exams. According to official sources, during the meeting attended by some ministers and senior officials at his residence, the Chief Minister asserted that there was no question of postponing the exams at this stage and the exams would be held as scheduled from October 21 to 27. senior officials to ensure the smooth running of the exams. He rejected calls for postponement, saying the government is fully prepared to handle the situation.
He felt that the protests were politically orchestrated by BRS and BJP leaders with the aim of derailing the group 1 exams, it is learnt. According to him, the violence was fueled by clashes between party members rather than by the real involvement of students.
