Annual “Sock Out Cancer Concert” raises funds for non-medical expenses

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The annual “Sock Out Cancer” concert took place Saturday evening at the Broome County Forum Theater.

The event allowed participants to enjoy an evening full of music performed by artists from here and abroad.

The concert featured Kevin Chalfant of Journey Experience and local contestant “The Voice” singer Alyssa Crosby.

All proceeds from the event went toward non-medical expenses of local patients.

Community members demonstrated in support of this cause.

“It tells you about this community and how important it is for us to support each other,” said Kirk Gravley, president and CEO of Security Mutual Life Insurance. “The people who support us, we support them and there are a lot of common bonds between everyone. It’s nice to see and people can appreciate it because so many people have been affected by cancer.

Gravley said the annual event has raised $1.6 million for the foundation since its launch in 2017.
