To ensure safe travel this holiday season, it is essential to follow these rules and avoid carrying prohibited items that could put lives at risk.

As Diwali approaches, railway stations witness large crowds as people return home for the festival. However, the Indian Railways has issued a strict warning to passengers that it is prohibited to carry firecrackers or sparklers on trains. According to railway safety rules, the carriage of any type of flammable objects, such as firecrackers, is prohibited in order to protect passengers from potential risks.

If a person is caught transporting prohibited items, they could face serious consequences under section 164 of the Railways Act. This could result in a fine of Rs 1,000, a jail term of up to three years, or both.

With firecrackers being sold at lower prices in some places, many might be tempted to take them home for the festival. However, the railways are repeatedly urging travelers not to take this risk. Carrying these items could cause you big problems.

Apart from firecrackers, other dangerous or harmful objects are also prohibited on trains. These include gas stoves, bottles, flammable chemicals, acids, smelly objects and wet skin. Such objects not only pose a fire hazard, but can also cause inconvenience to other passengers or damage the train.
