Barbecues and shisha banned along Kuwait’s coastal strip due to maintenance work

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: Faisal Al-Otaibi, head of the Kuwait Municipality Camps Committee, announced that 18 camping sites have been approved for the upcoming season starting mid-November. However, six previously designated sites were cancelled, including areas in Al-Oyoun, Al-Abdaliyya and two near Al-Julaia camp.

Al-Otaibi mentioned that the selection and cancellation of venues was based on coordination with relevant authorities, prioritizing the avoidance of specific locations. Field teams have already started preparing approved sites by clearing obstacles and distributing containers of different sizes.

In a separate statement, Al-Otaibi said that due to ongoing maintenance works, barbecues and shisha smoking have been banned along the coastal strip at the request of the tourism projects company. This ban applies to green spaces, sidewalks and sandy areas until further notice. Legal action will be taken against those who violate these rules.

Additionally, inspection teams will patrol beaches, in cooperation with government agencies, to enforce the new restrictions. Currently, barbecues are still allowed in Al-Aqila and Al-Khiran Beach.
