Eden Prairie police find body matching description of missing boy

Eden Prairie police say they have found a body matching the description of the missing 11-year-old autistic boy.

What we know

According to police, around 9:30 p.m., a body matching the description of the missing boy after he went missing Sunday evening was found.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share that a body matching the description of Mohamed Mohamed, the 11-year-old autistic child reported missing earlier today, was found in a pond near the residence of Mohamed at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 20,” Eden Prairie police said in a statement.

Authorities say they have called off the search for the boy.

Eden Prairie Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident along with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Water Patrol and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

The boy was last seen around 5.45pm on Saturday near his home on Cardiff Lane.

What we don’t know

The circumstances leading to the boy’s disappearance are not yet known.

Police say there is no further information about the incident at this time.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Mohamed’s friends and family during this incredibly difficult time. We also want to thank everyone who participated in the search efforts,” Eden Prairie Police said.
