JK Police counter-espionage team conducts raids to bust new militant outfit

The Counter Intelligence Wing (CIK) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday carried out several raids in several districts of the Valley to bust a new militant group believed to be an offshoot of banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), officials said.

The CIK carried out a major operation, carrying out raids in several districts, including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kulgam, Budgam, Anantnag and Pulwama, they said.

During the operation, a recruitment module of a newly created terrorist organization was dismantled, they said.

Officials said the new group, seen as an offshoot of LeT, is believed to be led by a Pakistani terrorist known by his pseudonym “Baba Hamas.”

The raids are still ongoing and further details are awaited, they added.
