Driver killed in Sugar Land, car splits in two after hitting pole, trees

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Sugar Land authorities say a driver died Tuesday night after crashing into a pole, causing him to be ejected from his car.

It happened on Eldridge and Sir Raleigh Way around 1:45 a.m. when police said they found the crashed vehicle and an unidentified driver dead from their injuries.

Based on debris on the roadway and preliminary information provided, investigators said the driver struck a light pole and two trees, causing the vehicle to split in two on impact and the driver to be ejected from the car.

It is unclear what factors led to the accident, but police are continuing their investigation.
