The Kogi State Police Command has banned the use of vehicles with covered number plates, as well as unregistered vehicles and motorcycles across the state.

According to a statement issued by the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya (PPRO) on Tuesday, Commissioner of Police Bethrand Onuoha said the order became necessary following reports that criminals were hiding under covered license plates to carry out criminal activities. the state.

“This has become an obstacle in the fight against crime and criminality in the state by law enforcement officers,” the statement noted.

The police commissioner advised owners of vehicles with covered number plates to remove them and those without registration numbers to register them or have their vehicles impounded.

“It is illegal for vehicle owners and drivers to hide their license plate or drive without a registration number. The Commissioner of Police urged the general public to comply with the order as the police will start cracking down and impounding vehicles and prosecuting violators.

“The Commissioner of Police advised members of the public to register their vehicles, remove covered number plates and replace defaced number plates, among others,” the statement said.
