Game developer responds after xQc and summit1g are randomly banned on Steam

Just after internet stars xQc and summit1g were randomly banned from playing Marauders on Steam, the game’s developers responded.

On Monday, October 21, xQc was streaming when he noticed a game ban notification on his Steam profile.

Confused, xQc clicked on the link to discover that he had been banned by the developers of Marauders, an indie looter-shooter released in early access in 2022.

“Huh? Wait, what? By the Marauders?” he said.

News of the bans quickly went viral on social media, revealing that he and summit1g had been banned from playing the game.

However, it didn’t take long for the Marauders developers to take to Reddit and make a statement on the situation.

“Hey friends! It has come to our attention that several high-profile content creators who have played our game in the past have been banned, after not playing for a long time. To clarify, this was NOT intentional on our part, and the fact that all of these content creators were targeted makes us think it’s not a coincidence. We are investigating the situation at the moment to find out what is happening and remedy the situation,” they explained.

“From what we have gathered so far, the bans do not relate to anything that happened in the game, but it appears that the individuals involved were targeted due to their ties to the Marauders in the pass. Other games seem to have the same problem, so I apologize to those affected for the inconvenience.

The developer also said it has been in contact with a few of the affected creators and has “no record of anything” in their systems regarding the bans.

“There are possibilities of this happening on Valve’s side, we are working with them to understand it. Please keep an eye on your accounts,” they added.

Although the reason behind banning xQc’s Marauders games doesn’t seem to be his fault, Juicer is no stranger to being banned from games. In July, he was banned from chatting on Valorant after calling his teammate the “R-word.”
