Legal action against YouTuber Irfan after controversial childbirth video | Madurai News

Police, legal action against Irfan and doctors soon: Minister of Health

Madurai: Minister of Health Ma Subramanian said on Tuesday that police action will be initiated against the YouTuber Mohamed Irfan for having violated medical regulations. This follows a recent video in which Irfan is seen cutting his newborn’s umbilical cord in the operating room of a private hospital.
Speaking to reporters here, Subramanian condemned Irfan’s actions, pointing out that a non-medical person performing such a procedure is a violation of national medical laws. “Irfan entered the operating room and cut the umbilical cord, which is a blatant violation of medical protocols.” said the minister. He added that a notice had already been served and a formal complaint had been lodged at the Semmancheri police station.
The minister said that the doctor who allowed this violation will also face disciplinary action. The Tamil Nadu Director of Medical Services was informed and an application was filed to suspend the doctor’s medical license.
Treasurer of Tamil Nadu BJP, SR Sekhar accused the state government of being soft on Irfan. “Why was no complaint filed against Irfan for cutting the umbilical cord on video?” asked Sekhar in an article on X. He further questioned whether Irfan’s political connections allowed him to post such controversial content without facing immediate repercussions.
Asked about political support for Irfan, Subramanian rejected the claims, saying the law would be implemented without bias. “We will ensure that appropriate legal measures are taken to enforce the law. This government will not protect anyone who breaks the law, regardless of their political influence,” the minister said.
