School timings changed due to increasing smog levels in Lahore

The Punjab Environmental Protection Department has issued instructions to relevant institutions to implement urgent measures in response to the increasing levels of air pollution.

As the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaches 150 in Lahore, the government has announced changes in school timings to protect children and elderly people from the harmful effects of smog.

From October 28 to January 31, 2025, schools in Lahore will open their doors no earlier than 8 a.m. and all outdoor activities will be suspended to limit children’s exposure to polluted air.

Students are required to gather indoors and authorities have urged the public to adopt protective measures, including wearing masks and monitoring AQI levels daily through the Department of Health Protection’s app. ‘environment.
