Liam Payne has raised almost £200,000 for the charity Choose Love, after sales of his specially designed t-shirt increased following his death.

The singer, who died last Wednesday aged 31, previously collaborated with the Choose Love campaign and designed a t-shirt which has so far raised £186,500.

The news was confirmed by Choose Love founder Dawn O’Porter, who took to the organization’s Instagram account on Tuesday.

Posting a photo of Liam holding the T-shirt he designed, Dawn wrote: “Today is #ChooseDay, and almost a week ago the world lost an incredible person.”

“We, like so many others, are devastated by the death of Liam Payne and our hearts and thoughts go out to his loved ones.”

“It seemed only right to dedicate this message to Liam and say thank you for everything he has done for us.”

“We will always be so grateful to Liam for the beautiful T-shirt he designed to raise money to support displaced people around the world.”

Dawn then revealed that sales had soared over the past week and the garment had raised a fortune to support the organisation’s work.

She added: “It has blown us all away to see how widely the t-shirt has been shared this week and to see that £186,500 was raised last week by this beautiful and generous community.

“These funds will help us continue to provide lifesaving care to displaced people around the world.”

“We will be forever grateful to Liam and his fans for this incredible act of love. The t-shirt is still available via the link in our bio. Thank you all, and thank you Liam ❤️’

Liam fell from the third floor of a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires last Wednesday evening, before doctors confirmed his death.

His tribute to the Universal Music Group label read: “We are devastated by the tragic passing of Liam Payne.”

The news was confirmed by Choose Love founder Dawn O'Porter, who took to the company's Instagram account on Tuesday.

“His legacy will live on through his music and the countless fans he inspired and who adored him. We send our deepest condolences to Liam’s family and loved ones.

It was revealed hours later that Liam had been dropped by the label days before his death.

Originally signed to Sony as part of One Direction, Liam signed with Capitol Records, a label owned by Universal, in July 2016 when he launched his solo career at just 22 years old.

Liam was reportedly “thrilled” when he signed with Capitol in what was seen as a very lucrative deal.

The label is a subsidiary of Universal, but during the company’s recent shakeup, it came under the main label.

Meanwhile, it was also revealed that Liam’s PR resigned earlier this month, leaving him without any publicity representation.

The resignation comes as Liam’s ex-fiancee Maya Henry began legal action against the singer after accusing him of contacting her on multiple occasions.

A source said: “It feels like Liam’s entire music career that he’s built since going solo eight years ago is falling apart, with very little left .”

“It must have absolutely devastated him.”
