The Whitney Museum will soon be free for all visitors 25 and under

The Whitney Museum, located in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, will soon be open to visitors aged 25 and under starting in mid-December to expand the influence of art, the cultural institution announced.

“Since its inception, the Whitney has been committed to supporting innovative young artists, and we now hope to further support young audiences as well, by removing the financial barriers that most impact this group,” said museum director Scott Rothkopf.

Currently, adult tickets are $30.

The concept of the museum housing works by artists from the 20th and 21st centuries is based on free evenings on Fridays for all from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., as well as free entry on the second Sunday of each month.

According to the Whitney, Free Fridays, which began last January, alone led to a wave of young people visiting the galleries.
