The UML criticizes “attempts to influence the investigation” into cooperative fraud

The CPN-UML on Thursday expressed concerns over the activities of various organizations and individuals, including the Rastriya Swatantra Party, who allegedly attempted to influence the ongoing investigation into the misuse of deposits of several cooperatives.

The party argued that there was no point in raising questions about the ongoing investigation and prosecution process since the process was based on the report prepared by a special committee formed by the House of Representatives with the participation of major parties and had been unanimously approved, and the House ordered the government to implement the report’s recommendations.

“The process of investigation and prosecution should not be hampered, especially when the report has been accepted by the House which has ordered the government to implement it,” UML general secretary Shankar said on Thursday Pokharel, in a press release.

Pokharel said it is everyone’s collective responsibility to support the ongoing investigation, prosecution and legal process regarding the individuals found responsible by the report.

The ruling party was seriously outraged by the involvement of RSP deputies in the demonstrations.

“Assembling more than five people for the purpose of preventing government officials from carrying out their duty as defined by law is a crime,” the statement said. “The involvement of federal lawmakers in such acts and the incitement of others to commit the same constitutes a serious crime. »

The party also called for respect for the judicial process, calling on political parties, the media, government and non-government agencies and citizens to cooperate to ensure that the investigation is conducted fairly and independently.

The ruling party also emphasized the constitutional duty of every citizen to adhere to and uphold the law. “Every citizen has a constitutional duty to follow and enforce the law, and obstructing public officials in the performance of their duties or compelling them to engage in illegal activities is punishable,” the statement said.

The UML called on all parties concerned to refrain from any activities that could disrupt the ongoing investigation and called on the government to maintain a fair and impartial judicial environment.
